ADÉLA DRECHSEL – VIOLIN - VOCALS
In Giant Mountains, where I was born, people do not join in singing over a glass of savoury wine, as they do in Moravia. In the mountains the weather is gloomy and cold for most of the year, no vines are grown there, and local people usually see the vintage festivals only on TV. Luckily for me, during my twenty years of life with the violin I was able to visit Moravia on countless occasions, experiencing the unrestrained, spontaneous playing of folk cimbalom bands (and those unforgettable wine festivals). Paradoxically, only after I went to study abroad, my life became intensively connected with folk music. And only when staying away from home have I found that the folk songs from the Giant Mountains are really larky and enlightening, despite the long, cold winter.
